Specimens should normally be planned before examination. True Transverse Radial or Tangential surfaces can be prepared by cutting with a sharp knife. It is most essential that the transverse section should be cut carefully with a special sharp knife. This section must be as flat as possible, for if it is cut at an angle, the result will be distorted field of view.
